The Vietnam Market Access and Partnership program, VMAP in short, is an initiative of IPP to enable the tailoring of tested and proven Finnish solutions for Vietnam and to initiate and accelerate long-term partnerships between Finnish and Vietnamese organisations for positive developmental impact. VMAP brings IPP’s on-the-ground experience and networks together to deliver hands-on support to Finnish companies. Successful new partnerships have been created through this one year cycle operation during 2017-2018.
In the VMAP Open Call followed assessment, 18 Finnish companies were shortlisted to join the programme out of 40 company applicants in September 2017. These Finnish companies were then matched with 25 Vietnamese innovation coaches selected and trained by IPP. Each company case was resourced a part-time case manager who supported the company in their market entry effort.
In the second stage of VMAP, 11 out of the original 18 Finnish live case companies were expanded further with additional support and 5 new companies were approved to join. Through this program, the participating Finnish companies have gained better understanding of market opportunities and needs, identification of partners and resources and signed agreements with local customers and partners.
Similarly, the 25 Vietnamese innovation coaches have deepened their understanding of working with Finnish tech companies. Both company and local expert testimonials suggest this innovative approach has yielded real and quick results for sustainable business partnerships. The created partnerships between the Finnish companies and local Vietnamese experts are expected to continue, scale and expand as the companies market entry efforts continue.
